Think Christmas in July/August

Right now Madamme Samm has a blog-hop going on the blog of SewWeQuilt. You still can see the list of blogs that still will come and have been showing their Christmassy blocks and quilts. Lesley from the Cuddle Quilter (click) is now in charge of the whole lot, called organisation, and she is doing an amazing job! And there are many tutorials and give-aways on some of the blogs!

Today I can show you guys what I have come up with for this Think Christmas in July BlogHOP. When I make something for x-mas I always run out of time to finish it before the deadline Christmas Eve! So most of the time I try something simple and I did do that now too. I combined simple with my love for star quilts and drew this simple caleidoscope block and gave it a Christmassy look.block x-masHet ligt erg aan je eigen kleur en stofkeuze welk effect je met dit blok krijgt! Maak vooral de hoeken licht om het ronde vorm effect te krijgen!
It really depends on the colour and fabric choices you make, what kind of style you will get! As long as you use focus colour and non focus colour for the big triangles in the centre. Make the small corner triangles with a light fabric for the circle effect in the quilt. And it is good for Paper Piecing (Madamme Samm loves that!)

See the difference between the left and the right design quilt of the dark colour combi? All rounded shapes you’ll only see with light little triangles in the right quilt! And for the rest: you have another star quilt for Christmas, ready in no time!
Of als je een wat meer ingewikkeld ontwerp wilt, dan kun je dit blok gebruiken:
Or if you want a more intrigate design, you can use this block, with another secondary design popping up:

If any of you like to make one of these blocks/quilts, just give me a hollar and I’ll send you the file with the pattern. Specify your block measurement in your request and if you like to receive block 1 (the caleidoscope block) or block 2 the intrigate star block! Mail me @ Craftluver (click).
And now some Christmas show and tell! Yes, more blocks and quilts to show!PICT2066Tablerunner I made for my mom with machine embroidered redwork blocks in centre of patchwork block. PICT0001bVery small Snowman quilt made from a kit!
PICT0007 (Small)Christmas Wishes   The large quilt is a pattern from Gail Pan, that I transfered a little and designed 3 new sayings/blocks for to make the quilt larger. The first time I made a larger quilt in 3 months! Gail loves it and so do I!
PICT4146PICT4150 PICT4145 (Small)My most favorite quilt! It makes me giggle every year again when I hang it! Here in Holland we have snow most of the time AFTER Christmas, so I turned the blocks around, so Santa comes in my quilt first and the Snowman later! He is for New Year! My first attempt with applique!
I hope this was enough blocks for the Christmas in July Blog Hop. I hope you had fun looking around. Thanks for visiting! And don’t forget…there are way more fun blocks and quilts out there on the web, go take a look
at my fellow blog-hoppers for today:
Bye Bye!
